After all the hard work of our fundraisers, old and young, and the generosity of the people of Wirral, we have now taken delivery of our EYESi cataract surgery simulator in to the Eye Department at Arrowe Park.
It arrived last week, and has now been set up, so the fulfilment of our dream to be one of the first units in the country to have this marvellous technology has been realised. Junior surgeons are already training on the EYESi, practising cataract surgery in the safe environment of virtual reality. We shall shortly be extending an invitation to young surgeons from neighbouring units around the Region in Liverpool, Chester, Warrington Crewe and Southport to come and use the simulator, so that they too can benefit in the way our own surgeons at Arrowe Park are already doing.
But the fundraising isn’t over yet! We still need to buy the module which will allow us to train in retinal surgery (the back of the eye), so the work is continuing to raise the next £70,000.
THANK YOU EVERYBODY – WE’RE HALF WAY THERE!

some advanced skills on the simulator.
